Sorry for the lack of posts this week; I have been recovering from a series of migraines and a busted lip, no thanks to my current eldest girl who accidentally head-butted me as I was bending down to pat her head. I’m recovering, although my lips were badly bruised a few days before; the impact was bad, plus my two front teeth actually sunk into my lips, so it did bleed quite a bit! Apologies for the vivid imagery, but I would like to remember these things by immortalising them on my blog some times, haha.
Anyway, let’s move on to today’s post!
I love animal prints in all forms, but my favourites are definitely the leopard and python print. I treat it like a neutral, but it always adds a little pizazz to my outfits. According to Porter, here’s how to wear them now, and as usual, I will go through each of them with outfits inspired by pieces from my own wardrobe!
Off-duty
The most casual method to wear animal prints is a printed t-shirt with jeans, but I decided to switch it up a bit with a plain t-shirt and printed jeans instead.
With tailoring
Animal-printed shirts with tailored pants are great for work, but I decided to take a different approach here with a pair of shorts instead. In this case, I also went with a different kind of animal print; butterflies!
For evening
An animal print dress is always a sexy choice, but here, I have decided to take a more conservative approach by layering a thin turtleneck sweater under a mini dress, which still looks great for a night out.
Tone on tone
Instead of wearing complete head-to-toe of the same animal print, I decided to break it up a little bit by using a pair of shorts that closely-matched the hue of the t-shirt and boots. I’ve actually worn a variation of this outfit years ago; time for a repeat soon!
Add a pop of print
What could be more “pop” than a saturated python print against a little black dress, no?
Dress: thrifted | Vintage shoes: Gianni Versace | Bag: Alexander McQueen | Vintage bracelet: Joseph Mazer I occasionally do enjoy the challenge of wearing animal prints head to toe, but my go-to style is casual; usually a printed t-shirt with a pair of my favourite jeans and a pair of my trusty Birkenstock flats. So, which method will you be trying out this year?
