Prada Lip Print Tops
Mwah mwah!
Every Prada girl must have at least one vintage piece in their wardrobe that is only recognisable by others of the same kind; IYKYK. This print is definitely one of them:
I have not seen this blouse in the secondhand market much, which is why I needed it. I love the cropped length, but it is the adorable puff shoulder sleeves with little frilly ends that got me!
For the uninitiated, this is from Prada Spring/Summer 2000:
The search for any garment from this collection has surged over the years, and is picking up momentum again as of late. Even British Vogue covered it HERE, so you know the hype is legitimately at its peak now.
The print is also available in purple; here they are on the same runway:

Here is the red lip print skirt again for their campaign:
Along with other editorials:

A little backstory: I have always loved lip/lipstick prints, and the original t-shirt that instigated me to love the pattern is this Lulu Guinness for Uniqlo t-shirt that was released in 2012:
Actually, I’d still buy this if I see it in the wild!
One of my earliest piece featuring this iconic design was a Zara t-shirt I thrifted years ago. I wore it to death even though it was a size too small for me then. I no longer have a photo of the shirt itself, but here are photos of me from the past in it:

Guess I always had a penchant for random pairings and fun prints!
Back to the Prada print, this actually isn’t my first rodeo with it. The house reissued the same motif in 2012, and I actually found a top from the newer collection that I mistook as vintage:

However, when I wore it out for the first time, I accidentally damaged it. So, the next obvious thing to do would be for me to look for another piece but get it right this time round.

Anyway, here are the images from Resort 2012, featuring an updated vector lip print:

And finally, here is Kirstin Davis, wearing the reissued 2000 print on a 2012 ensemble:
Just for fun, click HERE to see another lip print t-shirt I currently own, that I wore for Valentine’s Day last year.
